Acceptable Use Policy
Chipon Alert — Preventive Safety Intelligence Platform

1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy governs your access to and use of the Chipon Alert platform (the "Service"), including the iOS and Android mobile applications, backend services, and all associated features. The Service is designed to provide community-sourced safety intelligence—a real-time safety map, incident alerts, route safety scoring, and neighborhood intelligence—to help users make informed decisions about their safety.
This policy exists to protect the integrity, security, and trustworthiness of the platform and the safety of our community.
2. Acceptable Use
You may use Chipon Alert for legitimate safety-related purposes, including but not limited to:
- Reporting genuine incidents — Filing accurate, factual reports of safety concerns you have witnessed or experienced directly
- Verifying incidents — Reacting to (upvoting, downvoting) or commenting on incident reports based on your direct knowledge or observation
- Seeking safety information — Using the safety map, heatmaps, neighborhood scores, and incident feeds to understand conditions in your area
- Planning safer routes — Using route safety scoring to evaluate route options based on real-time incident data and historical patterns
- Providing constructive discussion — Adding comments or insights that contribute meaningfully to community understanding of safety conditions
- Personal safety decisions — Using platform data to make informed decisions about where to travel and how to travel safely
All use must be consistent with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the laws of Nigeria, the United States, and your local jurisdiction.
3. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited on Chipon Alert:
3.1 False or Misleading Incident Reports
- Filing false, fabricated, exaggerated, or intentionally misleading incident reports
- Reporting non-existent incidents to manipulate safety scores or heatmaps
- Misrepresenting the location, time, severity, or nature of incidents
- Filing duplicate reports of the same incident for manipulation purposes
- Filing reports based on rumors, speculation, or unverified information presented as fact
3.2 Targeting, Stalking, and Harassment
- Using the platform to identify, locate, track, or target individuals
- Filing incident reports with the intent to harass, intimidate, or harm specific individuals
- Using comments or verification features to bully, threaten, or harass other users
- Coordinating with others to target or harass individuals through the platform
- Using location data or incident patterns to enable stalking behavior
3.3 Doxxing
- Revealing, publishing, or encouraging the revelation of private or personal information of incident victims
- Revealing, publishing, or encouraging the revelation of personal information of incident reporters
- Sharing personal details (phone numbers, home addresses, family members' names, workplace information, etc.) without consent
- Linking personal information across accounts or sources to identify individuals
3.4 Hate Speech, Discrimination, and Threats
- Posting content that attacks individuals or groups based on protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, caste, or other status)
- Using slurs, dehumanizing language, or stereotypes
- Inciting violence or discrimination against individuals or groups
- Threatening, intimidating, or wishing harm on individuals or groups
- Promoting discrimination in services, employment, housing, or other domains
3.5 Spam and Commercial Solicitation
- Posting unsolicited commercial advertisements or promotional content
- Repeatedly posting identical or near-identical messages
- Using the platform to solicit business, promote products/services, or generate leads unrelated to safety
- Posting links to external websites or apps for commercial purposes
- Flooding the platform with irrelevant content
3.6 Automated Access and Scraping
- Using bots, scripts, automated tools, or crawlers to access the Service
- Scraping, harvesting, or bulk-downloading data from the platform
- Automated account creation or manipulation
- Bypassing rate limiting or security controls
- Using API access beyond authorized scope
- Launching distributed requests that burden platform infrastructure
3.7 Reverse Engineering and Decompilation
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the Chipon Alert application
- Attempting to derive or discern the source code, algorithms, or proprietary methods
- Extracting or reproducing proprietary scoring algorithms or methodologies
- Modifying or tampering with the application code
- Creating unauthorized derivatives of the platform
3.8 Circumventing Trust and Safety Systems
- Attempting to manipulate safety scores, heatmaps, or incident rankings
- Coordinating with others to artificially inflate or deflate incident severity
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent warnings, suspensions, or bans
- Gaming the verification system by upvoting/downvoting your own reports
- Impersonating the platform, moderators, or administrators to gain trust
- Exploiting bugs or vulnerabilities to bypass content moderation
3.9 Facilitating Criminal Activity
- Using platform data to plan, facilitate, or commit crimes
- Sharing information on the platform to enable theft, robbery, harassment, or violence
- Using incident reports or safety data to target victims
- Coordinating criminal activity through comments or verification features
- Publishing information that could reasonably enable illegal conduct
3.10 Impersonation
- Impersonating law enforcement, government officials, or emergency services
- Impersonating medical professionals or health authorities
- Impersonating other users, community members, or public figures
- Using false credentials to gain authority or credibility on the platform
- Creating accounts in others' names without consent
3.11 Political Campaigning and Manipulation
- Disguising political campaigns, partisan messaging, or electoral activity as safety alerts
- Filing or boosting incident reports to influence political outcomes or candidates
- Using the platform to spread political disinformation or propaganda
- Manipulating neighborhood safety data for political advantage
- Coordinating political messaging campaigns through the platform
4. System Integrity
You may not:
- Interfere with, disrupt, or damage the platform's servers, databases, or infrastructure
- Conduct denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or other cyberattacks
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data
- Exploit security vulnerabilities in the platform
- Introduce malware, viruses, worms, or other malicious code
- Monitor or intercept data not intended for you
- Attempt to circumvent security measures or authentication systems
- Test the security of the platform without written authorization
- Overconsume bandwidth or resources to degrade service quality for others
5. Enforcement
Chipon Alert reserves the right to investigate alleged violations of this policy. In response to violations, we may take the following actions, at our sole discretion:
5.1 Investigation
We may investigate violations through any lawful means, including:
- Reviewing user account activity and incident history
- Analyzing patterns of reports, comments, and verification behavior
- Consulting with law enforcement or external experts
- Requesting information from the user
5.2 Warnings and Remediation
- Initial notice — We may contact you to warn of prohibited behavior
- Correction requests — We may request that you remove content or cease specific activity
- Temporary restrictions — We may temporarily limit your ability to file reports, comment, or verify
5.3 Suspension
- Temporary suspension — We may suspend your account for a defined period (typically 7–90 days) for significant violations
- Reinstatement conditions — Account reinstatement may require acknowledgment of violations and agreement to comply
5.4 Termination
We may permanently terminate your account and access to the Service if you:
- Commit egregious violations (coordinated harassment, doxxing, threats, or criminal facilitation)
- Repeatedly violate this policy after warnings or suspension
- Refuse to comply with removal or correction requests
- Engage in activity that poses imminent risk to others
5.5 Law Enforcement Referral
We may report violations to law enforcement, including when content involves:
- Threats of violence or harm
- Criminal activity
- Child safety violations
- Harassment or cyberstalking
5.6 Data Retention
Even after account termination, we may retain evidence of violations for legal, investigative, or security purposes as required by applicable law.
6. Reporting Violations
If you encounter a violation of this policy, please report it:
- In-app — Use the "Report" feature on any incident, comment, or user profile
- Email — Send detailed reports to

- Specific incident or comment ID (if applicable)
- Date and time
- Screenshots or context
- Your contact information
- Emergency — If the violation involves imminent danger or crime, contact local law enforcement immediately
We will acknowledge reports within 48 hours and investigate promptly.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated to you via:
- In-app notification
- Email notification (if we have your email)
- Publication on the Chipon Alert website or app
Your continued use of the Service after changes constitute acceptance of the updated policy.

Appendix: Severity Scale Reference
For reference, the following incident severity levels are used on Chipon Alert:

| High | Suspicious activity, major traffic accident, kidnapping report, violent crime |
| Medium | Checkpoint, protest, flooding, road blockage |
| Low | Power outage, road closure, minor incident, informational alert |
Reports must match the actual severity of the incident. Misclassifying severity to manipulate scores is prohibited.
